Precision-Sized Hemp Hurds (2 mm)
Precision-sized hemp hurds are derived from the woody inner core of the hemp stalk and processed to a consistent average particle size of approximately 2 mm. Sourced from hemp grown without pesticides or herbicides, this clean, uniform material provides an ideal balance of structure, performance, and sustainability for industrial applications.
Engineered for consistency, the 2 mm particle size offers excellent flowability, packing density, and compatibility with standard manufacturing systems—making it particularly well-suited for engineered wood products.
Engineered Wood Applications
These hemp hurds are an excellent raw material for particleboard, fiberboard, and other composite panel products. Their natural cellulose content and rigid structure contribute to strong internal bonding when combined with common resin systems such as urea-formaldehyde (UF), phenol-formaldehyde (PF), or MDI adhesives.
Compared to traditional wood particles, hemp hurds offer a more uniform geometry and lower variability, which can improve panel consistency and reduce processing inefficiencies. Their lightweight nature can also contribute to favorable strength-to-weight ratios, while their rapid renewability supports more sustainable manufacturing practices.
The 2 mm sizing is optimized for panel production, allowing for efficient blending, mat formation, and pressing—resulting in high-quality finished boards suitable for furniture, cabinetry, and construction applications.
Sustainable Material Advantage
Hemp is one of the fastest-growing fiber crops, requiring fewer inputs and less time to harvest than traditional timber sources. By incorporating hemp hurds into engineered wood products, manufacturers can reduce reliance on forest resources while maintaining performance and scalability.
With their consistency, process compatibility, and environmental benefits, 2 mm hemp hurds are a smart, forward-looking solution for modern composite manufacturing.
