Macel is a breathable, silky, and sustainable semi-synthetic fabric made from hemp cellulose. It is prized for its luxurious drape, excellent moisture-wicking properties, and durability.

How It's Made

Macel is considered an eco-friendly textile due to its unique production method. The hemp cellulose is dissolved using a non-toxic organic solvent in a "closed-loop" system, which allows manufacturers to capture and reuse over 99% of the water and solvents, minimizing waste and environmental impact

We have incorporated Macel and Spandex into our hemp jersey. We refer to this Macel/Spandex blend as "Stretch Hemp." The Spandex gives it the stretch, and the hemp Macel gives it softness and uniformity. This material is perfect for young ladies apparel where stretch is desired for those form fitting outfits. The wicking properties of Macel make this versatile fabric great for active wear such as yoga apparel and workout clothing.
